Baramulla: A gunfight broke out between the security forces and terrorists in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The operation began on the night of September 13, with a joint effort by Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Tapper area of Baramulla, including Chak Tapar Kreeri.
Gunfight underway in Baramulla
The action was initiated following specific intelligence input suggesting the presence of militants in the area. The operation started late at night and quickly escalated as contact was established with the suspected militants. A gunfight ensued between the security forces and the militants.
It is believed that two to three militants are reportedly trapped in the area. The operation is still underway.
Two soldiers dead in gunfight in Kishtwar
Meanwhile, on Friday night, another encounter took place between security forces and terrorists in Kishtwar of Jammu region. Two soldiers lost their lives in the gunfight while two others were injured. This operation was carried out by a joint team of Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel.
Teams of security forces are conducting the operations against terrorists in different areas of Jammu region. Terrorists are being searched especially in the mountains and dense forests.
Two top commanders of Jaish-e-Mohammed killed in Kathua
Earlier on Wednesday, security forces had eliminated two terrorists in Khandara area of Kathua district. Both these terrorists were top commanders of Jaish-e-Mohammed.
M-4 and AK series rifles, ammunition and food items were recovered from them.
