New Delhi: After being significantly weakened following continued military pressure in J&K, Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) is seeking it revival in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Jammu and Kashmir with the help of foreign militant organisation, claims intelligence sources.
As per sources, it is learnt that JeM is set to hold a conference in PoK’s Rawalakote on February 5 in which leader of Palestinian movement Hamas is also expected to participate. The conference is named Kashmir Solidarity and Hamas Operation ‘Al Aqsa Flood’.
JeM attempts revival with foreign groups
The sources also suggest that the proscribed terrorist group Jaish-e-Muhammad is attempting a revival allegedly with backing from foreign militant group.
The gathering is expected to be addressed by key figures Jaish-e-Muhammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba, including Talha Saif, who is the brother of JeM chief Moulana Masood Azhar. Asghar Khan Kashmiri, who is JeM’s launching commander, and Masood Ilyas, a senior JeM commander will also address the gathering that will discuss Kashmir solidarity and Hamas’ “Operation Al Aqsa Flood’ on October 5 against Israel that killed 1200 Israelis mostly soldiers.
JeM gathering at Rawalakote stadium
The gathering will take place at Shaheed Sabir Stadium in Rawalakote, PoK. According to sources, senior leaders, including the PM of PoJK and other political and military figures are expected to be present during the said conference.
Hamas is expected to be formally invited to the event. Dr. Khaled Qaddoumi, who is Hamas’ representative in Iran, will be among the key speakers. Sources also suggest that other Hamas linked leaders are also expected to be in PoJK. The event is expected to be closely monitored by security agencies.
In 2019, the United Nations designated Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar a global terrorist. Masood has been convicted in several terror related cases including attack on CRPF convoy killing 40 soldiers.
