New Delhi: German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, who is on a three-day India visit, on Friday said that today, world needs more friends and companions like India-Germany. In a message on social media platform X, Scholz also expressed his gratitude towards PM Modi for warm welcome in New Delhi.
“In this world, we need friends and allies – just like India and Germany. Dear Narendra Modi, thank you for your warm welcome in New Delhi!,” shared Scholz on X.

PM Modi on Friday morning welcomed Scholz for a one-on-one meeting at his official residence. MEA spokesman Randhir Jaiswal said both leaders agreed to maintain the renewed momentum in bilateral ties.
“Welcomed my friend, Chancellor Scholz, to my residence in New Delhi. Glad to be meeting him and discussing a diverse range of issues that will add momentum to the India-Germany friendship,” Modi said in a post on X.
Later in the day, both leaders also attended the Then both the leaders addressed the 18th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business and then the 7th Inter-Governmental Consultation between India and Germany. While speaking at the event, PM Modi said there has been a tremendous progress in the strategic relations between both the countries.
“In the last IGC in Berlin in 2022, we made important decisions for our bilateral cooperation. In two years, there has been encouraging progress in various sectors of our strategic relations. Increasing cooperation in areas like defence, technology, energy, green and sustainable development have become symbols of mutual trust,” said PM Modi.
While emphasising on the importance of Indo-German relations in several fields, PM Modi said India’s talent and Germany’s technology can play a huge role in deciding the world’s future. Next 25 years years will give new heights to Indo-German relations.
Prime Minister said that Germany has increased the number of visas given to Indian skilled worker from 20,000 to 90,000, highlighting the deepening trust between the two old partners.
“This is the right time to join India’s growth story… India becoming a global trade and manufacturing hub,” Modi said, adding, today India stands on strong pillars of democracy, demography, demand and data.
Scholz arrived in Delhi late on Thursday as part of his three-day official visit to India.
