Prayagraj: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and 118 diplomats from 77 countries will visit Maha Kumbh Mela on Saturday. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and the diplomats will take a holy dip in the Sangam, while CM Yogi Adityanath will participate in a religious ceremony. This marks the first visit of VIPs following the tragic stampede at the Maha Kumbh.
Circle pfficer (protocol-III) Pratima Singh confirmed the likely visit of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and CM Yogi Adityanath to the Mahakumbh town on Saturday. However, she did not share details of the Vice President’s schedule. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit the Maha Kumbh on February 5.
Yogi Adityanath’s schedule
On Saturday, Yogi Adityanath will attend Pattabhishek ceremony at Satuva Baba’s camp at around 4 pm. According to an official statement, 118 diplomats from 77 countries will arrive at the Maha Kumbh Mela on February 1, where they will be given a grand welcome at Arail.
These diplomats will hoist their respective national flags at Arail and take a holy dip in the Sangam. The statement further mentioned that they will also visit Akshayvat, Saraswati Koop and the Hanuman Temple.
Delegates from these countries to participate in Maha Kumbh
The countries participating in the Maha Kumbh include the United States, South Africa, France, Russia, Brazil, Switzerland, Japan, New Zealand, Germany, Nepal, and Canada.
A similar diplomatic gathering was organized during the 2019 Kumbh. An official said that some of the visiting delegates might also take a dip in the Sangam.
Security measures have already been heightened in preparation for the visit while ensuring the convenience of the common pilgrims, who arrive in large numbers daily to attend the 12-year religious mega festival.
30 killed in stampede
On January 29, during Mauni Amavasya, a stampede claimed 30 lives and left 60 people injured. Following the stampede, health facilities and security measures were further enhanced.
Medical teams remain on standby 24 hours a day. Ambulances have been deployed, and 23 hospitals with a total of 360 beds have been set up in Maha Kumbh area.
