New Delhi: Norwich City have announced the appointment of Jack Wilshere as their new first-team coach. The 32-year-old has taken on the role after leaving Arsenal, where he served as the under-18s head coach. This move marks an important step in Wilshere’s growing coaching career, as he transitions from youth coaching to working with a senior team in the Championship.
Wilshere, a product of Arsenal’s academy, had a memorable playing career. He made his Premier League debut at 16, becoming Arsenal’s youngest-ever league debutant. Over the years, he made 197 senior appearances for the Gunners and won two FA Cups. After his time with Arsenal, Wilshere had spells at West Ham, Bournemouth, and Danish side AGF before retiring in 2022.
Since then, he moved into coaching and quickly made a name for himself by guiding Arsenal’s under-18s to the FA Youth Cup final during the 2022/23 season. Wilshere’s progress as a coach caught the attention of Norwich City, and he now joins Johannes Hoff Thorup’s coaching staff at the club.

Norwich City sporting director Ben Knapper expressed his excitement over Wilshere’s arrival, describing him as one of the most promising young coaches in the country. Knapper, who previously worked with Wilshere at Arsenal, highlighted his passion and ability to connect with players as key qualities that will benefit Norwich.
Wilshere spoke highly of Norwich, saying that their vision for the club and the top-class facilities made this an ideal move for him. He is eager to start working with the team and contribute to their push for promotion, as the Canaries currently sit just outside the play-off spots in the Championship. This new role offers Wilshere the chance to develop his coaching skills further in a competitive first-team environment, setting him up for even bigger opportunities in the future.
