Dehradun: Indo-Tibetan Border Force (ITBP) and Uttarakhand government signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) for the supply of local products of the state to the force (ITBP). The MoU was signed in presence of the state’s animal husbandry minister Saurabh Bahuguna at the chief minister’s residence in Dehradun on Wednesday.
As per the MoU, Uttarakhand will make supply of local products, including live goats/sheep, chicken, and fish to different companies of the ITBP, deployed in the state under the vibrant village scheme. The MoU was signed by the BVRC Purushottam, on the part of Uttarakhand government, and Sanjay Gunjyal, IG (ITBP).
Dhami hopes enhancement in the livelihood of local people by this MoU
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the MoU will enhance the source of livelihood for the local people who will feel that they are associated with the security of the country. It will also bring local people close to the ITBP in the state, CM Dhami further said. According to him, ITBP will play the role of brand ambassador for the promotion of local products.
State to work out a plan for the availability of local products
CM Dhami directed the officers concerned to make sure that there will be total availability of the local products. He asked the officials to work out a plan to supply vegetables, milk, Paneer, and Egg to the ITBP.
MoU will be helpful in checking migration
Animal husbandry minister Saurabh Bahuguna said this important decision has been taken to enhance the source of livelihood of the people associated with pisciculture and animal husbandry. Expressing his gratitude to union home minister Amit Shah and CM Dhami, Bahuguna said the MoU will be helpful in checking the migration from the hill areas.
MoU will extend benefits to people associated pisciculture, animal husbandry, goat/sheep rearing, and poultry
The MoU will extend direct benefit to about 11000 people who are associated with animal husbandry through 80 co-operative societies. This includes 7000 women. 10,000 people who are associated with sheep and goat rearing, more than 800 people associated poultry, and 500 people associated with pisciculture will get benefits from the MoU, he mentioned.
Expected turnover is Rs 200 crores
This is the first opportunity for the state to make available a market for the people associated with poultry, pisciculture, sheep and goat rearing. As per one estimate, the expected turnover is of about Rs 200 crores annually.
