After achieving a historic ‘soft landing’ on the Moon, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) is gearing up for another remarkable mission, Aditya-L1. This mission marks India’s debut venture into solar exploration, focusing on studying the Sun.
ISRO’s Chief, S. Somnath, announced that the countdown for this mission has commenced. The Aditya-L1 Sun mission is scheduled for liftoff on September 2nd at 11:50 am from the Sriharikota Spaceport. The agency confirmed the successful completion of launch rehearsals and internal rocket checks.
ISRO’s Next Milestone: Aditya-L1 Sun Mission
According to ISRO, if all goes according to plan, the Aditya-L1 rocket will embark on its journey toward the Sun at precisely 11:50 am, propelled by the PSLV-C57 rocket.
Ahead of this groundbreaking mission, ISRO’s Chief, S. Somnath, sought blessings at the revered Changalamma Parameshwari temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati district, praying for the mission’s success. During interactions with reporters, he emphasized that the countdown for the Sun mission has officially commenced. The launch is set to take place at the Sriharikota Space Station in Andhra Pradesh, with all preparations now in place. Approximately 125 days post-launch, the satellite will reach its designated Point L1.
Aditya-L1 Set to Launch on September 2nd
The Aditya L-1 (ISRO Sun Mission Live Updates) will be positioned in the ‘Lagrange Point’ (L-1 orbit) in space before embarking on its mission. From this strategic location, approximately 1.5 million kilometers away from Earth, the satellite will observe and study Sun activities round the clock.
ISRO noted that there are five Lagrangian points between the Sun and Earth. The L1 point in Holo Orbit provides uninterrupted and eclipse-free observation of the Sun, making it an ideal location for this mission.
ISRO Chief’s Visit to Tirupati for Sun Mission
The mission’s live telecast will be available on ISRO’s Facebook and YouTube channels, starting at 11:20 am. Additionally, viewers can tune in to DD National TV channel for live coverage. Various platforms of Moneycontrol Hindi will also provide live telecast of this historic event.
