New Delhi: The Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, a central university under the Ministry of Railways offers various undergraduate programmes in engineering. Erstwhile, National Rail and Transportation Institute, it offers five BTech courses (four with specialisations in rail engineering and one in transports and logistics).
The BTech courses are- BTech in Civil Engineering (Specialisation- Rail Engineering), BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (Specialisation- Rail Engineering), BTech in Mechanical Engineering (Specialisation- Rail Engineering), BTech in Electrical Engineering (Specialisation- Rail Engineering), BTech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (Specialisation- Transportation and Logistics).
Is JEE Main required?
Clearing JEE Main is not mandatory to apply for BTech programme at Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Vadodara. As per the admission criteria for BTech programme at Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, the candidates must have possess 50 per cent marks in plus two with Physics, Chemistry and Maths. They need to qualify in either national level engineering entrance (JEE Main) or state level engineering entrance (GUJCET).

BTech in Civil Engineering (Specialisation- Rail Engineering): The course aims to prepare students to operate and maintain railway systems. The course has railway infrastructure, signaling systems, railway mechanics and other subjects.
BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (Specialisation- Rail Engineering): The candidates can apply for BTech in Electronics and Communication Engineering at the Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Vadodara. The BTech programme contains some specialised courses- VLSI design, Embedded systems, Communication networks, and Microwave engineering. The course fee is Rs 5.27 lakh.
BTech in Mechanical Engineering (Specialisation- Rail Engineering): The core courses in BTech in Mechanical Engineering (Specialisation- Rail Engineering) are fluid mechanics, Kinetics of machines, solid machines, heat transfer, high speed rail systems, manufacturing process, rolling stock vibrations
BTech in Electrical Engineering (Specialisation- Rail Engineering): The course fee for the BTech programme varies from Rs 2 lakh to 6 lakh. Some of the specialised courses in the BTech programme are- Train system interfaces, Train design, Train control, RAMS, EMC, and Industrialization electrical.
