Iran condemned recent Israeli missile strikes targeting military sites across the provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam. The attacks, carried out early this morning, have heightened tensions between the two countries, with Iranian officials labelling them as acts of aggression from the “criminal and illegal Zionist regime.”
A source from the Iranian government told the news agency Tasnim that Iran reserves its right to respond to any act of aggression. “There is no doubt that Israel will receive the appropriate response to any move (against Iran)”, the source warning that Tehran’s reciprocal response to any Israeli action will be “harsh, proportional and well-calculated”.
Iran responded with the “effectiveness of its integrated air defence system”, which reportedly limited the damage inflicted during the Israeli strikes.
Officials indicated that the full extent of the incident is still under investigation, urging citizens to remain calm and unified in the face of provocation. “We invite the people to maintain solidarity and peace,” a statement from Iranian authorities declared, urging them to rely on national media for updates and to disregard information disseminated by foreign adversaries.
The Air Defense Public Relations Officer confirmed that Iran’s air defence system responded to multiple attempts by Israeli forces to attack locations within the country. Furthermore, the Iranian government warned citizens against sharing images or news with foreign media perceived as hostile, labelling such actions as criminal under Articles 6 and 8 of the law. Individuals found cooperating with foreign entities against Iran could face imprisonment ranging from one to ten years.
In response to the strikes, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they had “successfully” completed targeted operations against Iranian military assets. “Our planes have safely returned home,” stated the IDF, emphasising that the strikes were in retaliation for recent Iranian threats against Israeli citizens. The IDF specified that intelligence-guided operations focused on missile manufacturing facilities linked to Iran’s production of weapons that had previously threatened Israel.” Simultaneously, the IDF struck surface-to-air missile arrays and additional Iranian aerial capabilities, that were intended to restrict Israel’s aerial freedom of operation in Iran,” it said.
The IDF’s operations included targeting surface-to-air missile systems intended to limit Israel’s operational freedom in Iranian airspace. These military actions were a direct response to hundreds of missiles launched toward Israel during attacks in April and October, which were attributed to Iranian provocations.
As the situation continues to evolve, the IDF has pledged to maintain readiness for both offensive and defensive actions, reaffirming Israel’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens from ongoing threats. For now, the Israeli public is advised to adhere to existing Home Front Defensive Guidelines as military assessments and strategic planning remain underway.
