New Delhi: The IPL retention deadline day is finally here. Amidst the celebratory atmosphere of Diwali, cricket fans are creating a buzz by busy surfing social media and sports websites to keep a close track of the retention updates and monitor the latest on their favourite superstars.
Who will be released and who will be retained? These two questions will be on every cricket fan’s mind ahead of the big announcement on October 31 (today). All eyes will be on the 10 franchises who are likely to make some big calls ahead of the IPL mega auction.
The teams can retain up to six players, via retention or Right to Match (RTM), from the existing squad, which is the highest number of players that can be retained in the history of the cash-rich tournament.
The auction purse for the franchises will be an eye-watering 120 crore for IPL 2025 – a rise of Rs 20 crore from the previous edition. Meanwhile, the total salary cap consists of the auction purse, incremental performance pay and match fees. Set at 7.5 Lakh per fixture, the match fee will be given to the players for the first time in IPL history with BCCI setting 7.5
