The iPhone 16 display has a 60Hz refresh rate, something that is a thing of the past, especially for premium devices. The standard iPhones have always been a part of criticism due to their standard refresh rate in the era when premium and gaming devices are offering up to 144Hz refresh rate. Forget that, you can even find a couple of smartphones in the budget segment with 120Hz refresh rate. However, the refresh rate is not the only drawback which lagged the latest iPhone 16 among its competitors.
As per the latest DXOMark display test results, the overall iPhone 16 display score is lower than the mid-range Android phones, such as Google Pixel 8, Samsung Galaxy S23, Honor 200, Samsung Galaxy A55, Pixel 8a, and Samsung Galaxy A35!

The test results of the iPhone 16 Display test show that it provides good brightness in almost all tested conditions for a general readability experience. Similar is the case with colours. However, the automatic brightness is said to be too low in dark room conditions, which leads to the manual adjustment of the brightness. Talking about the colours, there is a slight orange cast, DXOMark report suggested.
Overall, the display showed issues with inconsistent average brightness in HDR10 videos and low contrast in certain conditions which affects the readability. The limitation of the refresh rate to 60Hz also resulted in the lack of smoothness.
