Jammu: An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in remote Pathanateer village of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. The security forces launched a cordon and search operation after receiving information about the presence of terrorists.
The operation, initiated on Saturday evening by a joint team of police and Army personnel in the Pathanateer area near Gursai Top in Mendhar sub-division, resulted in a gunfight after the search team came under fire from the hiding terrorists. Security forces have deployed reinforcements to the area to intensify the operation.
Three terrorists killed in Baramulla gunfight
In a separate incident, a gunfight broke out between security forces and terrorists in Baramulla district. Three terrorists were killed in the operation, which began on the night of September 13 in the Tapper area of Baramulla, including Chak Tapar Kreeri. The operation was launched after a specific intelligence input indicated the presence of terrorists in the area.
Security forces made contact with the terrorists shortly after the operation began, leading to a fierce exchange of fire. The joint effort by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police led to the elimination of the three terrorists.
Two soldiers killed in Kishtwar encounter
In another encounter, two soldiers lost their lives and two others were injured in a gunfight with terrorists in Kishtwar, Jammu region, on Friday night. This operation involved a joint team of the Indian Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel.
Two Jaish-e-Mohammed commanders killed in Kathua
Earlier, on Wednesday, security forces killed two terrorists in the Khandara area of Kathua district. The terrorists, identified as top commanders of Jaish-e-Mohammed, were eliminated after a brief gunfight. Weapons, including M-4 and AK series rifles, ammunition, and food supplies, were recovered from their possession.
