New Delhi: The Indian film industry is a mix of languages, stories and visually appealing aesthetics. Every year, hundreds of movies are produced and released showcasing great talent. India’s most expensive film
The Telugu film Kalki 2898 AD is India’s most expensive film so far. Made on a whopping budget of Rs 600 crore, the film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani in lead roles. The film boasted some top-notch VFX and high-octane action sequences portraying the backdrop of a dystopian world.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Kalki 2898 AD crossed the all-time India collection of films like Pathaan, Gadar 2, and Animal. The film amassed over Rs 1,200 crore worldwide at the Box Office, making it the fourth highest-grossing Indian film of all time.

For the unversed, Kalki 2898 AD is directed by Nag Ashwin who is known for the 2018 National Award-winning film Mahanati. The film was initially titled Project K but was renamed months before its theatrical release on June 27. Kalki 2898 AD is the first instalment of a planned Kalki Cinematic Universe.

In 2898 AD, 6000 years after the Kurukshetra War, Ashwatthama (played by Amitabh Bachchan), cursed with immortality, roams a dystopian Earth ruled by Supreme Yaskin (played by Kamal Haasan), a god-king seeking power through Project K. Yaskin’s Complex enforces control over Kasi’s citizens.
He experiments on fertile women to create a serum from unborn children. When Raia, a young rebel, and Ashwatthama discover Sumathi (played by Deepika Padukone), the prophesied mother of Kalki, they protect her against Yaskin’s forces. Meanwhile, Bhairava (played by Prabhas), a bounty hunter, aligns with Ashwatthama to secure Kalki’s future, leading to a climactic battle.
