New Delhi: India is set to celebrate its 76th Republic Day on January 26, marking the adoption of the Constitution in 1950. The Constitution came into effect three years after India gained independence in 1947, establishing the country as a sovereign, democratic, and republican state.
This year’s Republic Day Parade, according to the Prime Minister’s Office, will showcase India’s cultural diversity and military strength, celebrating 75 years of the Constitution and people’s participation. The parade will begin with Prime Minister Modi laying a wreath at the National War Memorial. President Murmu will receive the salute during the ceremonial march past.

The 76th Republic Day parade in New Delhi will begin at 10:30 am on Sunday at Vijay Chowk. The procession will proceed along Kartavya Path, passing India Gate, and conclude at the Red Fort. The grand finale will feature a flypast by 47 aircraft, showcasing India’s impressive aerial prowess.
When and Where to Watch the Parade Live
For those unable to attend the parade in person, the Republic Day celebrations will be broadcasted live. Television viewers can watch the event on Doordarshan, the official broadcaster. Coverage will start around 9:00 am with the flag-hoisting ceremony by the President of India.
Online viewers can tune into Doordarshan National’s official YouTube channel, as well as stream the event on Prasar Bharati Live, Disney+ Hotstar and many private news channels’ websites and apps. Those wishing to witness the parade live in Delhi can purchase tickets through the Ministry of Defence’s Amantran Portal or at designated counters.
Chief Guest for the 2025 Republic Day Parade
The Chief Guest for this year’s Republic Day parade will be Prabowo Subianto, the President of Indonesia. A total of 10,000 special guests from across the country have been invited to witness the parade, which will take place from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate.
Theme of the 76th Republic Day Parade
The year’s theme is “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas” (Golden India: Heritage and Development), commemorating 75 years since the adoption of the Indian Constitution. The parade will feature tableaux from 15 states and union territories, including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chandigarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh.
