New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah declared that Indian history would be categorised into three distinct phases, pre-independence, post-emergency and pre- and post-Narendra Modi eras. This declaration was made during the launch of a book celebrating the Modi government’s achievements, “Indian Renaissance: The Modi Decade.”
“India’s history in three parts. First is before & after independence. Second is before & after emergency. Third is before & after Narendra Modi,” he said
Shah highlighted India’s economic progress, emphasising the country’s rise from the 11th to the 5th largest economy globally and predicting its ascension to the 3rd position by 2027. This growth, he argued, is a stark contrast to previous governments, implicitly criticising their economic management.
“PM Modi brought India from 11th to 5th largest economy in 10 years.” He further predicted that “We will be the world’s 3rd largest economy in 2027. We can’t imagine missions like Chandrayaan and Spadex,” Shah said.
Beyond economics, Shah detailed various social welfare programs implemented under Modi’s rule, citing figures such as 7 crore houses provided to the poor, widespread provision of toilets and clean water, food security schemes benefiting millions, and health insurance coverage.
He underscored the success of these initiatives in alleviating poverty, stating that 25 crore people were lifted out of poverty and 80 crore received free rations. He also highlighted the focus on sanitation, claiming credit for providing toilets to 1.5 crore homes.
“PM Modi is the 1st leader after Mahatma Gandhi to speak about Safai. Despite early criticism, the government’s focus on building toilets led to 1.5 crore houses given toilets by PM Modi,” Shah said.
Shah attributed this success to the stability provided by PM Modi’s government after three decades of shifting political landscapes. He even quoted a foreign newspaper’s assessment that India truly achieved freedom from colonial influences under Modi’s tenure, even more significantly than on August 15, 1947.
The Home Minister also pointed to India’s swift and effective response to the COVID-19 pandemic, crediting the government’s quick vaccine development and nationwide Janta Curfew for effectively controlling the spread of the virus. He emphasised the unity of the central and state governments and the cooperation of the Indian public in combating the pandemic.
Finally, Shah emphasized Modi’s vision for India to become a fully developed nation by 2047, portraying this goal as the collective aspiration of the 130 crore Indians and expressing confidence that India’s youth will play a vital role in achieving this ambitious goal.
