New Delhi: India is likely to witness widespread rainfall across several regions over the next seven days. Southern Peninsular India, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka, is expected to see light to moderate rainfall throughout the week, with heavier showers forecast for specific areas.
According to IMD, Northeast India, particularly Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya, will also experience rainfall, with isolated heavy and very heavy rainfall likely in some parts. Meanwhile, West India, including Gujarat and Konkan and Goa, is predicted to receive significant rainfall, especially over the next few days.
Heavy rainfall likely in Karnataka
In South Peninsular India, widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected in Lakshadweep, Kerala, Mahe, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and Coastal and South Interior Karnataka. North Interior Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Telangana, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh will see scattered rainfall throughout the week.
Heavier downpours are expected in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal between October 11 and 15, with very heavy rainfall likely on October 13 and 14. Kerala and Mahe are also expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall around October 13 and 14.
Lakshadweep will see isolated heavy rainfall on October 11, while Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Rayalaseema are likely to experience heavy showers from October 14 to 16. North and South Interior Karnataka are forecast to receive heavy rainfall between October 11 and 14.
Weather forecast for Northeast India
Northeast India will experience widespread light to moderate rainfall, particularly in Arunachal Pradesh, where heavier rain is likely between October 11 and 12.
Assam and Meghalaya are also expected to see isolated heavy rainfall on October 11. Very heavy rainfall is forecast for Arunachal Pradesh on October 11.
Heavy rain forecasted for Goa, Gujarat
In Western India, Konkan and Goa and Gujarat will experience fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall throughout the week. Heavier rainfall is expected in Gujarat on October 11, while Konkan & Goa will see very heavy rainfall on October 11.
Madhya Maharashtra and the Saurashtra and Kutch regions will also witness heavy rainfall from October 11 to 13.
Rainfall in Northwest, East, and Central India will be limited this week. Isolated light showers are likely over some parts, but no significant rain is expected.
However, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands will see widespread rainfall, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim will receive scattered light to moderate showers.
