India Weather Today: Heavy rains likely in Telangana, Vidarbha region | Know full forecast

New Delhi: The weather department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy rains at isolated places in Telangana for Sunday. While some places will received less than or equal to 12 cm of rain, others will see up to 20 cm of rainfall, according to the predictions of the weather office.

Heavy rains in Western India: IMD

If South India will receive very heavy rainfall, conditions will be no different in the western part of the country. Extremely heavy rains are expected to hit the Vidarbha region in the West. Gujarat is already reeling under floods which has led to numerous deaths.

Other South India states like Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka will also see heavy to very heavy rainfall, said the weather department. The Marathawada region and western Madhya Pradesh are also expected to get heavy to very heavy rainfall, which can be anything less than or equal to 12 cm.

Heavy rains, around 7 cm or less are likely in isolated places of East Rajasthan, eastern Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim. The states of Odisha on the eastern coast and Chhattisgarh in central India will also receive heavy rains on Sunday, said the IMD. In the northeastern part of the country, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are also likely to receive a similar amount of rain i.e. around 7 cm, they added.

Rains are also predicted for the Konkan coast, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala and Mahe. If some parts of Madhya Pradesh will see rains, others will have thunderstorms accompanied by lighting.

Squally and windy weather in off Gujarat, Maharashtra coast: IMD

Squally weather and wind speed of up to 45 to 55 kmph will be witnessed over north, central Arabian sea and northern parts of south Arabian Sea, along and off Gujarat and Maharashtra coast, said IMD. Similar conditions will be prevail along the coast of Konkan, Goa, Karnataka and Lakshadweep, they said.

Many parts of south Bay of Bengal, west central and adjoining east central Bay of Bengal, southern parts of northwest Bay of Bengal and areas lying along and off the Andhra and Odisha coast will also see high speed winds, up to 55 kmph on Sunday. Apart from this, the northwest Arabian Sea and adjoining northeast Arabian Sea will witness wind speeds of 50 kmph which can go up to 70 kmph.
