Putin has also expressed his willingness to hold this meeting. The key question now is: where will this historic meeting take place?

India: The most suitable option

According to sources, the Kremlin is preparing a list of potential countries to host this meeting, and India has emerged as the top contender. Many close to the Kremlin believe that India’s neutral ground could pave the way for a successful meeting.

India’s impartial and independent stance during the Russia-Ukraine war has earned international acclaim. Moreover, President Putin is already scheduled to visit India in 2025. On the other hand, Donald Trump has previously visited India during his term.

India is a member of the QUAD alliance and will chair the QUAD summit in 2025, which Trump is expected to attend. Both the Russian and US Presidents are scheduled to visit India this year, making it an ideal platform with significant diplomatic potential to inspire peace.

TV9 has reached out to the Kremlin for an official confirmation regarding this possibility and a response is awaited.

Slovakia also in the race

On December 23, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico visited Russia and invited President Putin to hold the meeting in Slovakia. However, Kremlin insiders suggest that Russia is seeking a friendly nation where the meeting can proceed smoothly.

Putin’s emphasis on friendly nations

Since the war began, President Putin has only visited countries considered allies of Russia, including China, Mongolia, Vietnam, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and North Korea. He even cancelled his visit to South Africa after the ICC issued an arrest warrant against him.

Why Not Europe?

Historically, meetings between American and Russian Presidents have often taken place in Europe. In 2021, President Joe Biden and President Putin met in Geneva, Switzerland. However, given the current circumstances, Donald Trump is likely to avoid visiting certain European nations.

Will India Become the Platform for Peace?

If the meeting is held in India, it could mark a significant step toward ending the Russia-Ukraine war and elevate India’s diplomatic standing to new heights. All eyes are now on the Kremlin for an official confirmation, eagerly awaited by the global community.
