India scripted an unparalleled chapter in space history on August 23rd as Chandrayaan-3, the third lunar mission by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), successfully achieved a soft landing on the Moon’s south pole. This remarkable feat makes India the pioneer country to accomplish such a landing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took this opportunity to commend ISRO’s dedicated efforts and express his profound gratitude. PM Modi remarked, “We feel very proud when we see such historic moments. This is the sunrise of new India. We made a resolution on earth and realized it on the moon… India is now on the moon.”

While PM Modi virtually participated in ISRO’s landing program from Johannesburg during the BRICS Summit, ISRO Chief S Somnath proclaimed, “India is on the moon,” following the safe landing of Chandrayaan-3’s lander module Vikram.
