New Delhi: Veteran centre back Sandesh Jhingan has been included in the Indian football team’s probables squad for the FIFA international friendly against Malaysia, after a long lay-off with a knee injury.
India head coach Manolo Marquez on Tuesday named 26 players in his preliminary list for the friendly that will be held in Hyderabad on November 18.
Jhingan makes a return after being on the sidelines since January of last season when he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in India’s Asian Cup group stage game against Syria.
The FC Goa defender returned to action in FC Goa’s 3-0 win over Indian Super League leaders Bengaluru FC on November 2.

Hmingthanmawia Ralte (Valpuia), Jithin MS, Vibin Mohanan have also been drafted in while forward Irfan Yadwad has received his maiden call-up to the national set-up.
Experienced left back Subhasish Bose made way for Aakash Sangwan while seasoned defender Rahul Bheke and forward Farukh Choudhary, who scored in India’s 1-1 friendly draw away against Vietnam on October 12 were retained.
Midfielder Lalrinliana Hnamte and right back Nikhil Poojary were also not included while Anirudh Thapa and Lalengmawia Ralte (Apuia) were included after missing out of the 23-member squad for the Vietnam trip.
Marquez will conduct a training camp from November 11 in Hyderabad. India are yet to win a game in 2024.
