New Delhi: India will take on New Zealand in the third and final Test of the three-match series at Wankhede Cricket Stadium in Mumbai on Friday, November 1. The visitors defeated Rohit and Co. by 8 wickets in the first Test and by 113 runs in the second Test. They have already won the Test series and will look to whitewash India.
The first Test of the series was heavily impacted by rain with fast bowlers dominating the match due to the overcast conditions while the weather remained clear in Pune for the second Test and the temperature was also slightly high.
The Wankhede Stadium is known for high-scoring matches, and teams always post high totals. The average first and second innings scores in Tests are 334 and 337, respectively. The average scores in the third and fourth innings are 207 and 128. The boundaries are also short and batters always enjoy success at this venue.
The red-soil wicket in Mumbai is expected to be on the drier side and spinners will get some turn and bounce. The fast bowlers will also get some assistance with the new ball. The conditions will be good for the batting in the initial days but as the match progresses spinners will come into the game and the team winning the toss will look to bat first.
