New Delhi: Two days of play have been possible after Day 1 of the first Test between India and New Zealand was washed out due to the rain at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Team India bundled out for 46 runs in the first innings after captain Rohit Sharma opted to bat first.
Five Indian batters got out without scoring a single run and only two batters managed to cross the 10-run mark. Matt Henry picked up five wickets while William ORourke took four wickets.
Latham and Conway provided a great start to New Zealand and stitched a 67-run partnership for the opening wicket. Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Latham on 15 runs but Conway continued his brilliant batting and built another 75-run partnership with Will Young.
After their dismissal, Rachin Ravindra and Tim Southee stitched a 137-run partnership for the eighth wicket as New Zealand scored 402 runs in the first innings. Rachin notched up a magnificent century and Southee also amassed a fifty. Trailing by 356 runs, Rohit and Jaiswal started well and stitched a 72-run partnership for the first wicket.
Ajaz Patel dismissed both the Indian openers but Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz built a 136-run partnership for the third wicket. Glenn Phillips removed Kohli (70) on the last ball of the day.
