New Delhi: In a first-of-its-kind event, the Rashtrapati Bhavan is reportedly going to host a wedding ceremony on its premises on February 12. President Droupadi Murmu has apparently given her nod to the event after she was immensely impressed by the conduct and service of the person getting married: Poonam Gupta, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Assistant Commandant.
As per media reports, when President Murmu learned about Poonam’s upcoming marriage, she arranged for the ceremony to be held at the Mother Teresa Crown Complex within Rashtrapati Bhavan. Reports indicate that the ceremony will be attended by a select people, including relatives and friends. They all will be screened before the enter the premises. However, no official statement has been released by Rashtrapati Bhavan till now.
Poonam earned President Murmu’s favour, becoming the first person to marry at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The CRPF assistant commandant is currently serving as a PSO at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Poonam Gupta is reportedly set to marry Avneesh Kumar, an assistant commandant stationed in Jammu and Kashmir, on February 12.

She led an all-women contingent during the 74th Republic Day parade, demonstrating her leadership qualities and unwavering commitment to her responsibilities and public service.
Hailing from Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, a master’s in English Literature, and a BEd from Jiwaji University in Gwalior. In 2018, she was ranked 81st in the UPSC CAPF exam, which reflects her dedication. She has also served in a Naxal-infested area in Bihar.
