New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert warning for heatwave in Maharashtra and Gujarat in view of rising temperatures. Mumbai and its surrounding areas may witness heatwave on Tuesday and Wednesday, preidcted IMD.
Residents have been advised to stay cautious with temperatures expected to rise from 37 to 38 degrees Celsius, 5 degrees above normal.
According to IMD, the temperatures are likely to rise in 11 states including Maharashtra,
Goa, Gujarat, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the next four days.
Delhi witnesses above normal temperature
The national capital Delhi continues to witness above-normal temperatures. On the Monday, Delhi’s maximum temperature was recorded at 27.5 degrees Celsius, 2 degrees Celsius higher than normal.
Warm weather conditions in other states
Humid and warm weather conditions are also expected in parts of Konkan, Goa, and coastal Karnataka till February 28.
Likely snowfall in Kashmir, Himachal
The weather department in Srinagar has forecast rain or snowfall at multiple locations between February 26 and 28. Srinagar has recorded a temperature of 4.8 degrees Celsius, while Gulmarg witnessed a minimum temperature of minus 1 degrees Celsius.
There has been continuous snowfall in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh for the past 24 hours. Kufri, popular hill station among tourists, recorded light snowfall, which was welcomed by tourists.
Cold in MP, heatwave in Rajasthan
As temperatures have started to rise with incoming summer season, parts of Madhya Pradesh have witnessed return of cold weather. In MP, temperatures have dropped by 2 to 5 degrees Celsius.
Bhopal witnessed cloudy skies in the day, Pachmarhi witnessed the coldest night. However, temperatures are expected to rise in the coming days by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius. Rajasthan is also expected to witness a rise in temperatures.
