New Delhi: Several states across the country, including, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha, are likely to receive rainfall on Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast. The weather department has warned that under the influence of depression over north Chhattisgarh, central India may experience “heavy to very heavy rainfall” on Wednesday while west Madhya Pradesh is likely to receive “extremely heavy rainfall” today.
Odisha that was battered by incessant showers on Tuesday is likely to experience heavy rains till Wednesday. Heavy rainfall lashed Odisha on Tuesday leaving a trail of destruction in the state. Heavy downpour left several areas inundated and also led to disruption of power supply. Malkangiri, Koraput, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam districts were affected the most. Schools were shut and people were shifted to safer place in several districts.
Rainfall forecast for these states
Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in Assam and Meghalaya during next six days. Tripura, Mizoram and south Manipur are likely to receive “extremely heavy rainfall” on September 13. Bihar may receive heavy rainfall from September 12 to 14 and Jharkhand on September 13 and 14, according to the weather office.
There is possibility of “very heavy rainfall” in in Madhya Pradesh till September 14 and “heavy rainfall” in madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat on Wednesday and in Chhattisgarh from September 14 to 16.
The Met department has also forecast “very heavy rainfall” in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan from September 11 to 13, and in Haryana on September 12. Heavy rainfall is likely to lash Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan till September 15, the IMD has predicted.
