New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa during the next two days and heavy rainfall over central, east and northeast India till September 27. The weather office said that the southwest monsoon has withdrawn from some parts of Rajasthan against the normal date of September 17.
According to IMD, Karnataka is expected to receive extremely heavy rainfall on Tuesday. Kerala, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh may also experience heavy rainfall today. The Met department has also forecast extremely heavy rainfall in Goa today and tomorrow.
Rain alert for these states
The IMD predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Maharashtra from September 24 to 26 and in Gujarat on September 25 and 26. There is possibility of heavy rainfall in Chhattisgarh till September 26 and in Madhya Pradesh till September till September 27.
According to the weather department, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on September 26.
Heavy rainfall is predicted in Assam, Meghalaya during the week and in Odisha till September 26. Bihar, Jharkhand may receive heavy downpour from September 25 to 27. Heavy rain is also expected to lash Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till September 29.
The IMD has forecast light to moderate rainfall over northwest India except West Rajasthan during the week. Heavy rainfall is likely to lash Uttarakhand on September 25 and 26 and east Uttar Pradesh September 26 and 27, it said.
