New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Gujarat, Maharashtra, east Rajasthan till Sunday. Heavy rainfall alert has also been issued for Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, east and northeast India from September 8 to 10.
Several states across the country have been witnessing heavy rainfall for the past few weeks that have crippled normal lives. Incessant showers have led to flooding in some places and also caused landslides in hill states. Many people have also lost their lives in rain-related incidents in some states.
Rainfall warning for these states
Rajasthan that has been experiencing heavy downpours for the past few days is expected to receive more rainfall.
According to Center in-charge Radheshyam Sharma,monsoon is may remain active in most parts of eastern Rajasthan for the next three to four days and some parts of Udaipur, Ajmer, Jaipur divisions are likely to receive moderate and sometimes heavy and very heavy rains. There is also a strong possibility of moderate rain and sometimes heavy rains in some parts of Jodhpur, Bikaner, Bharatpur and Kota divisions.
Besides, heavy rainfall is also likely to lash parts of south Bengal from September 9, owing to a low-pressure area that will intensify into a depression, the Met Department said. There is possibility of heavy rainfall over North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore and Jhargram districts on September 9 and September 10, according to the weatherman said.
In Himachal Pradesh, low flash flood risk warning has been sounded by the local meteorological office in parts of Shimla, Sirmaur, Mandi, Solan, and Bilaspur districts till Saturday.
