New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in some parts of north west and southern part of the country in next few days. Releasing a statement, the weather department said isolated heavy rainfall is expected over parts of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya within next few days, while parts of Karnataka and Rayalaseema may expect the same weather conditions today.
According to the IMD, isolated heavy to very rainfall is also expected over Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, and Mizoram on October 8 and October 9. Apart from North East part of the country, similar weather condition is also expected over parts of Kerala and Maharashtra from October 8 to October 11. Lakshadeep may also expect heavy rainfall during October 8, which may continue till October 11.
Light to moderate rainfall
The coming week may also see fairly, widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall very likely in several parts of North East as well as in Andaman and Nicobar Island in next few days and Sikkim and West Bengal in the next few days. While scattered light to moderate rainfall is expected in some parts of India’s eastern region in the coming days, no significant rain is expected in other parts of the country in the next week.
Parts of North East received heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours
Several parts of the country, including Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema and Marathwada, received heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours. In a press statement on Saturday, the weather department further stated that a low-pressure area was lying over the north Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh and West Bengal. It added that a cyclonic circulation was over north Bangladesh and adjoining sub-Himalayan West Bengal extending up to middle tropospheric levels.
