New Delhi: Heavy rainfall is expected to hit several regions of India over the next four days, with Uttarakhand under a red alert and other states bracing for severe weather conditions.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a depression over central Uttar Pradesh is moving slowly, and widespread rainfall is predicted over several areas in North, Central and South India over the next few days. Other parts of North India, including Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and East Rajasthan, will see scattered to widespread rainfall.
Severe waterlogging in Delhi-NCR
Meanwhile, Delhi-NCR region witnessed heavy downpour on Friday morning, leading to severe waterlogging in many areas.
Light to moderate showers are forecasted for the capital and surrounding areas, including Noida, Gurugram, and Faridabad.
According to local weather department, Delhi, light rainfall or drizzles are expected in various areas, including Noida, Greater Noida, Gurugram, and Faridabad. The weather department has warned of waterlogging and slow traffic in several parts of the region due to persistent rains.
Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh brace for torrential rain
Uttarakhand is likely to witness extremely heavy rainfall on September 13. The state is expected to experience downpours that could lead to landslides and flooding. A red alert has been issued for the state.
West Uttar Pradesh is also on high alert, with very heavy rainfall likely on September 13. The IMD has issued an orange alert for the region.
Weather forecast for Central India
Heavy rains are also expected in parts of Madhya Pradesh, with West Madhya Pradesh predicted to receive very heavy rainfall on September 13, and East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh likely to see similar conditions on September 16 and 17.
Light to moderate showers are expected to continue over Konkan, Goa and Chhattisgarh, during the week.
East and Northeast India under orange alert
East and Northeast India are also bracing for significant rainfall. An orange alert has been issued for West Bengal, Odisha, and the northeastern states of Nagaland, Meghalaya and Tripura. These areas are likely to see very heavy rainfall on September 13 and 14, while isolated areas in Assam, Manipur, and Mizoram will also experience heavy showers over the next few days.
Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha will face particularly intense rainfall from September 13 to 14, and Jharkhand is likely to be affected from September 14 to 15. Bihar and other parts of the region will also experience scattered showers through the week.
Southern India to witness moderate rainfall
In the South, Coastal Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh will experience widespread light to moderate rainfall, while scattered showers are expected over Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and interior Karnataka.
Mumbai weather forecast
Mumbai is forecasted to have a generally cloudy sky with light to moderate rainfall in Mumbai and suburbs on September 13. The maximum temperature is expected to be around 31°C, while the minimum temperature is likely to hover near 25°C.
