IMD warns of heavy rainfall in Odisha, Madhya Pradesh and THESE states

New Delhi: India is expected to experience a mix of weather conditions this week, with some areas likely to light to moderate rain and others expecting heavy showers in certain places. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), various regions, including central, southern, and northeastern states, will likely receive scattered rainfall.

The northeastern states like Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura, will likely face heavy rainfall over the next few days. The IMD has also forecast hot and humid conditions for parts of the southern peninsula. 

Weather forecast for Madhya Pradesh

In Central India, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is anticipated throughout the week. East Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will likely see heavy rainfall between September 23 and 25, while West Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha could experience isolated heavy showers on September 24 and 25.

For East and Northeast India, Andaman & Nicobar Islands will witness fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall. Isolated heavy rainfall is expected on the islands on September 20. Similarly, Odisha is predicted to witness heavy rains on September 22 and 23. 

IMD warns of heavy rain in Nagaland, Manipur

Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will likely experience heavy downpours from September 22 to 25, with Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya also set to receive heavy rain between September 23 and 25.

In Northwest India, the forecast suggested isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall during the week, though no significant heavy rainfall is expected in this region.

Weather forecast for coastal areas

Western and Southern Peninsular India will experience scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall, especially in regions like Konkan and Goa, Marathwada, Rayalaseema, and Coastal and North Interior Karnataka. 

Some areas will face isolated heavy rains, with Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam likely to experience heavier downpours on September 20. Meanwhile, parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal should brace for hot and humid weather on September 20.
