New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall northwest India, including Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Rajasthan. Isolated very heavy rainfall is predicted over Himachal Pradesh on August and 10.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure area to form over Jharkhand and the adjoining north Odisha and Chhattisgarh in the next 24 hours, which will lead to widespread rainfall and thunderstorms across India. The monsoon trough is active and remains close to its normal position at mean sea level. The system is expected to tilt southwestwards with height and potentially leading to the formation of a low-pressure area within the next 24 hours
A feeble offshore trough is also present along the South Gujarat to North Karnataka coast and will influence the weather patterns in these regions. Apart from that, a north-south trough extends from Rayalaseema to the Comorin area in lower tropospheric levels, contributing to the overall moisture availability and rain activity.
