The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded the alarm as torrential rains persist across many parts of the country. A red alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for specific areas. On Sunday, IMD warned of intense rain in several parts of Madhya Pradesh, predicting an active monsoon over central regions in the coming two days.
Chances of Rain Across the Country
IMD has indicated that states like Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Gujarat will experience heavy rainfall until September 19. Western parts of Madhya Pradesh might witness heavy downpours until September 17. Similar weather patterns are anticipated in Gujarat. Moreover, Chhattisgarh is also likely to face substantial rainfall.
Weather Outlook for Delhi
IMD forecasts rain in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh for the next two days. Additionally, a warning of heavy rain has been issued for northeastern India, Odisha, and the Ganga banks of West Bengal. Further alerts for heavy rains with strong winds have been issued for many areas including Saurashtra, Kutch, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry.
Red Alert Areas
The Meteorological Department has raised a red alert for heavy rain in various parts of East Rajasthan, Western Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat from September 17 to 18. Rain activity has been observed in New Delhi over the last 2-3 days, with expectations of continued cloudiness. IMD anticipates heavy to very heavy rain in different areas of West Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat on Sunday. Additionally, very heavy rains are expected at isolated places in East Rajasthan, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Konkan and Goa, and Central Maharashtra.
