New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warning for isolated heavy rainfall/snowfall in parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh for two days. Fairly widespread rainfall/snowfall is expected over the western Himalayan region till December 28.
According to the weather department, widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is also expected in parts of Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan. It has also predicted isolated to scattered rainfall, which is likely to be accompanied by thunderstorms, and lightning in parts of East Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, interior Maharashtra and Gujarat Region on December 28.
Cold wave conditions in parts of Himachal Pradesh
Cold wave conditions are very likely in some parts of Himachal Pradesh from December 29 to December 31. Notably, thunderstorm along with hailstorms was also predicted in several areas of Southeast Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, East Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada & Gujarat Region. Several parts of North India including Himachal Pradesh, Haryana Uttar Pradesh and Haryana may also witness dense fog till December 30.

Also, dense fog conditions are expected to prevail during in parts of Himachal Pradesh on December 29 and December 30. Similar weather conditions are also expected in Punjab between December 27 and December 30; Haryana and Chandigarh between December 28 and December 30; West Uttar Pradesh between December 29 and December 30.
In the meantime, temperature dipped to -6 degrees Celsius on December 27 in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The weather department had predicted minimum and maximum temperatures of 8 degrees Celsius in the daytime.
