New Delhi: India is likely to receive significant rainfall in several regions over the next few days. According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), many parts of Central, East and Northeast India are likely to see widespread light to moderate rainfall. Meanwhile, isolated heavy downpours are anticipated in areas such as Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and the northeastern states.
In South Peninsular India, widespread rainfall is also forecast, particularly along the coastal areas of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu and Kerala will experience above-normal temperatures.
Forecast for Central India
In Central India, Vidarbha is expected to see fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall throughout the week, with isolated heavy rainfall likely between September 23 and 27.
Chhattisgarh is set for similar conditions from September 23 to 26, while Madhya Pradesh will experience scattered showers during the next three days, followed by more widespread rainfall over the subsequent four days.
Forecast for Northeast India
In East and Northeast India, Odisha and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands will see widespread light to moderate rainfall, while isolated to scattered showers are expected in West Bengal, Sikkim, and other northeastern states like Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura.
Heavy rain is likely in parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, and Assam between September 23 and 27, with humid weather conditions to continue in the Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim.
Forecast for Northwest India
In Northwest India, the weather is expected to remain mostly dry in West Rajasthan, with scattered light to moderate rainfall forecast for the rest of the region. Gujarat, Madhya Maharashtra, and Konkan & Goa could see isolated heavy rain from September 24 to 27, while Marathwada will experience heavy rainfall on September 23 and 24.
Lastly, South Peninsular India will witness fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Isolated heavy showers are likely in Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema, with Tamil Nadu expected to have heavy rainfall on September 22. Despite the rain, above-normal maximum temperatures are predicted for Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala over the next three days.
