Bengaluru: Ishan Sharma, a Bengaluru-based YouTuber with over 1.5 million subscribers, recently took to Twitter to share about a video editor who backed out after accepting the offer. Despite offering “excellent pay”, the candidate, an IIT student, decided not to take the job. Sharma posted a screenshot of the email he received from the student, which explained his decision.
The student said that he felt leaving IIT at this stage of his life was not the right choice. He wanted to complete at least one or two more years at the institute before considering such a move. He added that the salary offered was not the issue. The student expressed gratitude for the opportunity and apologised for any inconvenience caused.
Ishan Sharma’s tweet goes viral
Sharma shared the email on X, asking for advice from his followers on what to do next. “Tried hiring a video editor. He signed the offer letter. And then sends me this email. Has happened with me multiple times. What should I do now?” he tweeted.
Since sharing the post, it has gained over 42,000 views. In the comments section, some users speculated that the student might have rejected the offer because of low pay, while others questioned why Sharma was considering an IIT student for a video editing role.
One user said, “His parents probably interceded.” Another wrote, “Go for professionals, pay them good salary. they will stick. These college kids change their mood every hour.”
A third user added, “Not a hater but, I’ve heard from a few guys that you pay quite low to editors considering your brand value, Could that be the reason?” Yet another asked, “Why would you want to hire an IITian for video editing? Try at different place.”
