New Delhi: On Day 2 of WITT Global Summit 2025, Union Minister of Food Processing Industries and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Chirag Paswan said that elections should be about development, not caste or religion. Speaking at the event held at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi, Paswan said, “When elections come, they often boil down to caste and religion, but I talk about Bihar First, not caste and religion. For me, MY stands for women and youth, not any community.”
Addressing the controversy over the Waqf Bill and alleged Muslim dissatisfaction, Paswan said, “There is no need to remove their displeasure. Their anger is dear to me. But I am also a little upset. You question my secularism despite the fact that my father (Ram Vilas Paswan) dissolved his party in 2005 to support the idea of a Muslim Chief Minister. You are angry with me, but you protect and side with those who have consistently treated Muslims as mere vote banks.”
I never support personal attacks in politics: Chirag Paswan
On the health concerns of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Paswan defended him, saying, “I have never supported personal attacks in politics. We should discuss policies, not personal matters. Yes, Bihar faces a law and order issue, but personal remarks should be avoided. If you want to make allegations, do so with dignity. I was Nitish’s political opponent, but I never used indecent language. Nitish Kumar is healthy and performing well as Chief Minister.”
Claiming NDA’s victory in Bihar, Paswan said, “We are definitely moving towards victory. Our alliance will win more than 225 seats.” He also revealed his long-term political ambitions, announcing that he will contest the Bihar assembly elections in 2030, adding, “I entered politics to enter state politics. My father wanted to remain in central politics, but I was determined to work at the state level.” However, he remained tight-lipped on whether he would be the NDA’s chief ministerial face in 2030.
The WITT 2025 Summit, hosted by TV9 Network, is a two-day event being held on March 28-29. It features discussions on national and international politics, governance, economics, health, culture, and sports. Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered the keynote address on Day 1.
The first edition of the summit was held in Delhi in 2024, followed by the Global Summit in Germany in November 2024, where global leaders, including PM Modi, participated. The Germany summit focused on development ties between India and Germany, with key figures from both nations discussing international issues.
