New Delhi: Spiritual preacher Jaya Kishori was brutally trolled after being spotted with a Dior bag worth over Rs 2 lakh. Responding to the backlash, Kishori said that she never claimed to be a sadhvi nor did she denounce anything. The preacher’s response furthered the existing debate about religious leaders.
Kishori spoke to ANI to clarify her stand regarding the luxury bag controversy. Speaking to the outlet, the spiritual preacher said that she was just a normal girl and also added that the bag was made from cotton and leather, not calfskin. “The bag is a customised bag. There is no leather in it and customised means that you can get it made as per your wish….I have never used leather, nor will I ever use it,” said the 29-year-old.

Further, the preacher stated that she never asked her followers to renounce materialistic things. “I have not renounced anything, so how can I tell you to do so? I am clear from day one that I am not a saint, sadhu or sadhvi. I am a normal girl, I live in a normal house, I live with my family,” said the preacher. She said that young people should work hard and live good lives.
Netizens were quick to respond to Kishori’s statements. While some lauded her for responding to trolls, others were not satisfied with her answer. Many said she was fooling people and making a living. One said, “They all are entrepreneurial cults..”
