Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate and Mehmooba Mufti’s daughter, Iltija Mufti, has conceded defeat after early trends of the counting of of votes in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday. Iltija was fielded by the party from Srigufwara–Bijbehara assembly seat.
She shared a message on social media platform X and expressed her gratitude towards people and party workers for their support.
As per the Election Commission’s official website, Iltija was trailing by a margin of around 3,700 votes at the end of Round-7 of counting at Srigufwara–Bijbehara seat. Jammu and Kashmir National Conference candidate Bashir Ahmad Shah Veeri was leading after getting around 19,332 votes.
Iltija Mufti had polled about 15,544 votes by the end of the Round 7 of counting.
“I accept the verdict of the people. The love & affection I received from everyone in Bijbehara will always stay with me. Gratitude to my PDP workers who worked so hard throughout this campaign,” Iltija Mufti shared on X.
As per the latest trends of the Election Commission at around 12pm, JKNC was leading in 42 seats, while it alliance partner Congress partner was maintaining lead on 10 seats. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was maintaining lead on 26 seats. If we go by the EC data, JKNC-Congress alliance was leading comfortable towards the majority mark.
Voting is underway for 90 seats of Jammu and Kashmir assembly for which elections were held three phases.
