Haridwar: A hydra driver who was injured after being entangled in Chinese manjha in Haridwar’s Kankhal police station area died during treatment. The police have taken the body into custody and sent it for postmortem.
The deceased, Ashok (46), son of Sukhbir and a resident of Rampuri Muzaffarnagar, operated a hydra machine in the area. He lived on rent in the Jagjitpur area.
Chinese manjha got stuck in his throat
On Wednesday, while riding his bike, Ashok reached Jagjitpur when suddenly a Chinese manjha got stuck in his throat, cutting his windpipe. He fell down, bleeding, and nearby people immediately sent him to a local hospital where during treatment the doctors declared him dead. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took the body in their custody and kept it in the mortuary of the district hospital for post mortem. SHO Manoj Nautiyal said that after postmortem, the body has been handed over to the family.
Police appealed the people not to use this manjha
On the other hand, Haridwar SP City Pankaj Gairola stated that continuous campaigns are conducted against Chinese manjha, and actions are taken accordingly. He appealed to the public not to use this manjha. He mentioned that all police station in-charges have been instructed to run campaigns and take action against those selling Chinese manjha.
Cases filed against sellers of Chinese Manjha in Jwalapur, Sidkul, and Kankhal
Yesterday, on Thursday, on the instructions of Senior Superintendent of Police Haridwar Pramod Singh Dobal, a large-scale checking campaign was carried out against those selling Chinese manjha in the city area. Several police teams simultaneously conducted actions at various main locations in the city, including Raja Garden, Desh Rakshak Chowk, Chowk Bazar Kankhal, Bengali Mor, Kharkhari Bus Stand, Har Ki Paudi, Railway Chowki, Ranipur Mod, Jwalapur Bazaar, Subhash Nagar, Gas Plant, Shivalik Nagar, Roshanabad, and Rawali Mahdood. During this operation, illegal Chinese manjha was seized, and legal action was taken against the accused as per the rules.
