Hyderabad: A woman died and 50 others fell sick due to food poisoning after eating Momos at a food stall in Nandi nagar, Banjara Hills, reports said.
The incident occurred on Friday and the families of those who fell ill, protested in front of the Banjara Hills Police station and filed a complaint with the police.
According to the victim’s kin, Momos were sold at a stall in a fair on Friday in Nandi nagar, Singadakunta Basti and Gauri Shankar Colony under Banjara Hills Police Station limits.
The deceased woman identified as Reshma Begum, 31, of Singadakunta Basti was at the fair along with her children.
About 50 people of the basti also consumed the food and all of them started complaining of vomiting and diarrhoea on Saturday. Those who fell ill are receiving treatment at various hospitals in the city. Reshma Begum’s health deteriorated on Saturday and she died while being admitted to Nims Hospital.
Around 10 minors were among those who ate the momos. The stall owner was arrested and a case has been registered.
The police believe that the mayonnaise and chilli chutney served with the momos may have been contaminated.
