Hyderabad: For boosting the connectivity across the city, on Saturday the State Cabinet gave approval to Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-2 project. The phase-2 will span 76.4 kilometres and reach five major corridors which include Nagole-Shamshad, Raidurg-Kokapet, MGBS-Chandrayangutta, Miyapur-Patancheru, and LB Nagar-Hayathnagar. The total cost of the project is estimated to be Rs 24,200 crore.
The cabinet headed by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy discussed the detailed project report (DPR) for the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-2 project. The project will be executed through a public-private partnership (PPP) model which will also include the central government.
The project report is yet to be submitted to the central government which will give final approval to the project. The meeting took place for over five-and-a-half hours. Besides the metro project, other projects regarding state’s infrastructure, welfare, and administrative domain.
Caste census to complete within November
The cabinet also discussed about completion of caste census before November 30. The caste census will begin from November 4 and 5 for which 80,000 enumerators will be deployed. Each enumerator is expected to cover around 150 households.
Land allocated for making Central Tribal University
The cabinet has also decided to build new roads and state highways in next four years which would cost around Rs 28,000 crore. These road projects will be completed in different phases through PPP model. The plan to displace Osmania General Hospital to the Police Grounds in Goshamahal was also discussed. The area of the new location will be 32 acres, owing to the growing demands. Additionally a Central Tribal University is also planned to be established in an area of 211 acres.
The cabinet also discussed the issue of pending instalment of dearness allowance (DA) of government employees. A total of five DA instalments are pending. The cabinet has decided to clear one instalment. Apart from this through a special resolution in the assembly, the issue of GOs 317 and 46 which were issued by previous BRS government will be resolved, as per a report by Deccan Chronicle.
