The Nampally city civil court passed an order and issued a strict warning to Telangana Minister Konda Surekha in BRS leader KTR’s Rs 100 crore defamation case.
The court denounced her remarks as objectionable and unexpected from a high ranking government official.
‘Remove comments from social media platforms’:
The court barred her from making any further comments on KTR and ordered her to remove videos featuring her comments from social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and Google platforms.
The court also issued orders to media houses that aired Konda Surekha’s comments and published articles and the organisations have been asked to remove all articles related to these comments from social media.
The court stated that all articles and videos related to Konda Surekha’s comments will have a bad impact on the society and should not be in the public domain.
A historic first stance against a minister:
This is the first time that a court has rebuked a sitting minister in a defamation case. Earlier, the minister was also told off by the Election Commission for brash remarks.
This court order sets a precedent, highlighting that inappropriate remarks from high ranking officials will not be tolerated.
KTR has said that he has zero tolerance for defamatory accusations and warned of legal consequences to anyone who tried to defame him.
