Haridwar: A case of honour killing in Haridwar came to the fore on Monday when a younger brother allegedly murdered his sister when she was busy talking to her paramour. As per the sources in police, this man Aman Ali was mocked by his neighbours because her sister was in relationship with a man living in the same locality.
People in the neighbourhood used to taunt Aman for his sister’s relationship and this has enraged him so much. He got furious when he saw his sister talking to her lover late in the night on Sunday. He objected but she didn’t stop talking over the phone, later Aman stabbed her with a knife.
Victim Shaista pleaded for mercy
It was found in the police investigation that Aman’s sister Shaista pleaded and begged for her life but Aman killed her with a knife at home. Superintendent of Police (SP) Haridwar, rural, S K Singh said that this incident occurred in the wee hours of Monday morning at the Milanpura area of Mangalore when the victim Shaista was talking on the phone which led to a heated exchange of words between brother and sister. Enraged brother later stabbed her, leading to her death. Aman has revealed during investigation that Shaista pleaded for mercy before her death.
Accused confessed his crime before police
After the murder, the police arrived at the scene and gathered information from nearby residents. It was revealed that Aman was very upset about Shaista’s love affair, leading to frequent arguments between them. On Sunday night, when he caught Shaista talking on her mobile, he lost his temper and slit her throat with a knife. The accused has confessed to his crime in front of the police.
Accused also remained sitting near the dead body the whole night
During interrogation, Aman revealed that he had been sitting near his sister’s dead body all night. When his younger brother witnessed the scene, Aman threatened him into silence. Out of fear, the younger brother remained quiet and stayed inside the house until morning. Neighbours also said to police that if Shaista’s mother had been home on Sunday night, she might still be alive today.
