On this occasion, the Prime Minister also mentioned the works done by his government in honour of Netaji, which includes naming the Andaman Islands after Bose, installing his statue at India Gate and announcing to celebrate his birth anniversary as ‘Parakram Diwas’ etc. He said that Bose was proud of India’s heritage.
PM Narendra Modi said that people should take inspiration from Bose’s life for the unity of India. He also warned that people should be cautious of “those who want to weaken the country and break its unity”.

Bose advocated for a more direct and robust resistance against the British, including the formation of a military force.
PM Modi’s tribute to Bal Thackeray
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi also paid tribute to Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray on his 99th birth anniversary. Sharing his thoughts on X, PM Modi said, “He is widely respected and remembered for his commitment to public welfare and towards Maharashtra’s development. He was uncompromising when it came to his core beliefs and always contributed towards enhancing the pride of Indian culture.”
Thackeray was known as a staunch proponent of Hindutva and Marathi pride. He shaped the Shiv Sena into a powerful political force in Maharashtra, particularly in the Mumbai region.
