New Delhi: A video has gone viral where two women can be seen harassing two Kashmiri Muslim cloth vendors in Sanjarpur area of Hamirpur district in Himachal Pradesh. In the video, the women can be seen telling an elderly man and his young associate to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
The purported video has gone viral on social media. The woman in the video allegedly claim to be the wife of a local sarpanch. The can also be heard asking the men to leave the state or chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
Woman calls for boycott of Muslim traders
The woman also asked the local residents to boycott Muslim vendors and not buy anything from them.
We should ensure that we should not buy anything from them. We should buy from our local Hindu traders. Will they give us the thing for free and even if they give it why would we take it. There is no need for you to come here, leave and do your business elsewhere,” the woman said in the video.
Are we not Indians, questions Kashmiri traders
In response to the woman’s rant, the young man questioned whether they are not Indian and why were they asked to chant “Jai Shri Ram”.
“We are not Muslim, then why are you asking us to chant the religious slogans. If I tell you to read a Kalima (Muslim confession of faith), to which country I belong,” the man said.
The woman then contended, “we are not coming to your area to sell things. You have to leave from here. I won’t allow you to come here.”
Srinagar MP Syed Aga Ruhullah Mehdi responds
Meanwhile, National Conference MP from Srinagar, Syed Aga Ruhullah Mehdi, has reacted angrily to the viral video.
Sharing the video on X, Aga Ruhullah said, “Idea of BJP’s India explained in this 2-3 minutes video. Kashmir is not part of India. Too much for “integration of Kashmir” after the abrogation of 370. The criteria for holding Indian citizenship is chanting a slogan of a particular religion. If there is some India still left which functions on its law and principles. This lady should be booked under Section 196, 197 and 302.”
