Chennai: The Chennai Regional Centre (RMC) has issued a weather alert, predicting heavy rains in Tamil Nadu today and tomorrow due to a low-pressure area forming in the Bay of Bengal. An atmospheric low-level circulation prevails over the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining areas, while an upper-level circulation exists over southwest Bay of Bengal and south Andhra Pradesh.
The India Meteorological Department has also warned that the low-pressure area is likely to intensify into a depression during the first weekend of November, bringing very heavy rainfall to Tamil Nadu between November 7 and 11.

The weathery agency predicted that light to moderate rains with thunder and lightning are likely to occur at many places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal today. Heavy to very heavy rains are expected in Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari districts. Other districts likely to experience heavy rains include Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Karur, Tiruchirappalli, Theni, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Pudukkottai, Sivaganga, Tenkasi, Thoothukudi, and Ramanathapuram.

For tomorrow, the forecast remains similar, with light to moderate rains and thunderstorms expected at many places. Heavy rains are predicted in Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Madurai, Virudhunagar, Theni, Dindigul, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari districts.
