Heavy rains caused landslides on ghat road between Tirupati to Tirumala, which lead to slow movement of traffic. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) mobilized JCB bulldozers to carry out repair work and clear the debris.
Due to heavy rains, TTD disallowed VIP break darshans along with canceling visits to Papa vinasanam, Akasa Ganga for the safety of the visitors.
Several colonies in the city are being effected including Rajiv Gandhi colony, autonagar, Koraminagunta among others.
Control rooms have been set up at the district collectorate as well as mandal, division and district level. SDRF teams have been made available at Gudur Sub-Collectorate. Rain is lashing coastal areas of Guduru, Sullurpet and Venkatagiri constituencies, in Wakadu, Tada, Kota, Sullurpet and Chillakuru.
Flash floods alert by APSDMA:
Heavy rains are expected in South coastal AP and Rayalaseema region of the state and AP State Disaster Management Authority issued a flash flood alert for Nellore, Prakasam, Kadapa, Chittoor districts. Four mandals in Prakasam, six in Nellore and three mandals in Annamaiyya district are expected to be the most affected, MD Ronanki Kurmanath said.
Nellore district collector Thameem Ansaria said that at least 360 police personnel and NDRF teams are on standby for relief operations.
Educational Institutions will remain closed on Wednesday, Thursday in Nellore, YSR and Annamaiya districts.

The depression over southwest Bay of Bengal moved west-northwards with a speed of 15 kmph during the last 6 hours and is at a distance of about 320 km from Chennai, 350 km of Puducherry and 400 km of Nellore.
It is likely to move west-northwestwards and cross north Tamil nadu, South AP coasts between Puducheryy and Nellore on Thursday, October 17.
