New Delhi: Uncapped Indian player Ramandeep Singh took a breathtaking catch on Saturday during India A’s clash against Pakistan A in the ongoing Emerging Asia T20 Cup 2024 played at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman.
It was a mind-boggling effort shown by the Punjab player that ended the flourishing of Pakistan opener Yasir Khan. While chasing a challenging 184 score in the second innings, Yasir was on the mission to set the tone with some brilliant strokes flowed from his bat. He made 33 runs from 22 balls before getting dismissed in the ninth over thanks to the stunner from Ramandeep.
Ramandeep moved to his right, sprinted briefly, and dived widely to pluck a one-handed catch near the boundary ropes of deep mid-wicket. This averted the flat pull shot attempted by Yasir off Nishant Sindhu’s bowling.

The left-arm spinner Nishant Sindhu later removed Qasim Akram in the same over to exert the pressure on Pakistan. Earlier in the innings, Pakistan captain Mohammad Haris started with a cracker, smashing a six on the first ball before a sweep attempt failed and left his stumps rattling by Indian pacer Anshul Kamboj.
Tilak Varma leads from the front
Indian skipper Tilak Varma made 44 runs off 35 balls to help India post 183 for 8 in the first innings. Tilak’s knock came after openers Abhishek Sharma (35 runs off 22 balls) and Prabhsimran Singh (36 runs off 19 balls) gave them a rollicking start, racking up 68 runs in the powerplay overs.
Ramandeep smashed a six and a boundary later in the innings, but was run out by Haris in the final over. Rasikh Salam finished with a six to take India past 180. Left-arm wrist spinner Sufiyan Muqeem was impressive from the Pakistan camp, claiming two dismissals for 28 runs from his quota of four overs.
