Chandigarh: With just a few days left for the upcoming Assembly polls in Haryana, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Captain Yogesh Bairagai against Congress candidate Vinesh Phogat from Julna constituency. The party has announced the names of 21 candidates earlier in the day. The state will go on polls on October 5.
Names of former ministers Krishan Kumar Bedi and Manish Grover have also been included in the list. While the party fielded Bedi from Naarwana, Grover has been fielded from Rohtak constituency. Apart from them, Pawan Saini has been fielded from Naraingarh seat and Satpal Jamba from Pundri.
Who is Captain Yogesh Bairagi?
A new entrant in politics, Captain Yogesh Bairagi is the state’s vice president in the BJP’s youth wing. According to his Facebook account, the 35-year-old is also the co-convenor of BJP’s sports cell in Haryana. An active party member, he played an important role to help those stranded in Chennai floods. A resident of Jind district of Haryaana, he was also involved in helping Indian nationals who were stranded abroad during the Covid-19 period. As per his profile share on Facebook is also a former pilot. According to ‘The Times of India’, Captain Bairagi decided to join politics as he was concerned about the unemployment in his village.
BJP announces list of 87 candidates
So far, the party has announced a list of 87 has been announced in the 90-member Assembly. The party has so far denied tickets to Praveen Dagar (Hathin), Jagdish Nayar (Hodal), Banwari Lal (Bawal), Seema Trikha (Badhkal) and Satya Prakash Jaravata (Pataudi). Meanwhile, singer Kanhaiya Mittal, who had recently said that he wanted to join the Congress, said on Tuesday that he would stay with the BJP.
