Chandigarh: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) new government in Haryana will be sworn in on October 17 in Panchkula and the ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with senior party leaders and chief ministers of states ruled by it.
The oath-taking will take place at the Dusshera ground in Sector-5 of Panchkula, near Chandigarh. Preparations for the event began on Friday following the setting up of a 10-member committee by the governor for the purpose.
Nayab Singh Saini, who replaced Manohar Lal Khattar as the chief minister in the previous term, is likely to be sworn in again after his public welfare schemes and reach-out campaign to the masses earned the BJP a historic third-time victory in the Haryana assembly elections.
The party had also indicated during the elections that Saini would retain the chief ministerial post if it won the polls. The BJP ended up with its best-ever haul of 48 seats, 11 more than the Congress. The JJP and AAP were decimated and the INLD managed to win just two seats.
